Amanda Beller
Place. Community. Connections. Nostalgia.
I am drawn to structures. Landscapes. To old bricks and peeling paint, to power lines and clotheslines. I imagine the lives that have engaged with the spaces. I am interested in collections of ordinary objects that fill one’s domestic realm. In front yard hangouts and mended fences. In years of conversations held within homes and on porches. Tiny glimpses of Americana reflect pieces of lives, moments, and memories tangled together through generations. These objects and these structures represent years of life. They exhibit collections of moments. And they reinforce our sense of place. And the nostalgia associated with one’s memory of a place is precious and personal. I hope my work invites reflection on structures and spaces that have shaped us, and gives us pause, as we imagine making new connections within our community.
